Washington Moose

by Karen
(Western Washington)

We live on the Washington coast and we deer and elk hunt. We often wondered why there are no Moose in our area, it just seems so natural and a perfect place for them here.

We seen them in Eastern Washington when we were in Wenachee, hunting deer. We were wondering why we don't have them here.

I grew up in Bellingham Washington and they were also in Bellingham, (There were 3 and they were relocated to British Columbia, Canada).

Thanks for your question Karen. To date moose have not populated coastal areas of Western Canada or United States. The climate as I understand it is just too wet and the food sources are not of the right type.

That said, moose continue to expand their habitat. It is possible over time they will inhabit your area.
