by Corey Coles
(Corner Brook Newfoundland Canada)
Our party of 3 had a license each to fill in MMA 8 near Corner Brook Newfoundland. We spotted a cow off in the distance and my father leaned over the hood of the pick-up and fired. We weren't sure if we hit the cow or not. So we waited for a bit and then went to take a look. The cow was down in some thick brush not far from where we spotted her standing. Not long after 2 more cows arose from the thick bush behind us. We passed on those. Shortly after that we heard a crack in the woods and a loud grunt....here stood the 13 point bull. I dropped down on my stomach, knowing I only had one shot, because the moose spotted us. I chambered one 30-06 shell and fired. Perfect shot. Dropped him in his tracks......
Then the work began...
great opening day for bull moose!
