My family and I eat moose almost everyday! We like to live off the land for the most part since everything is so expensive out here in the bush..
So, sometimes I'll try different recipes and change it up a bit, but the all time favorite for the kids and my partner is my moose and gravy..
Here are all the ingredients:
-about 2 lbs chunk of moose (best if you use the brisket)
-1 white onion
-2 gloves of garlic (add more if you want)
-2 beef bouillon cubes
-1 small can mushrooms or best if fresh
-1.5- 2 cups water
-4 tbl spoons of flour
-1/2 cup milk
some soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, teriyaki sauce if you want and of course of seasoning(salt, pepper, johnny seasoning, dill weed.
On a skillet brown the meat(I always add some water every now and then, so its not to tender. Add chopped onion, mushrooms and garlic. Let all favors blend and marinate while you make gravy mix
In a bowl whisk together warm water and flour.
Add in milk, crush the bouillon cubes and add them in.
Then I eye ball and splash in the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and teriyaki.
Then stir in the sauce and continuously mix until it kind of boils or bubbles. Turn heat to simmer and let sit 5 mins.
Serve over rice and its just like gramma's cooking
